SynergEyes hybrid lenses have been giving the comfort of a soft lens without any of the compromises of rotational issue for almost 25 years, from the long standing and hugely successful Duette in both SV and Progressive Centre Near and award-winning Centre Distance designs to the even more recently released EDOF SynergEyes iD lens.
Today, for those who already fit complex corneas or perhaps are new to this field and want to find a way to start, we will be looking at the UltraHealth range of vaulting lenses.
UltraHealth and UltraHealth FC are made from the tried and tested proprietry RGP and silicone hydrogel combination that form the patented unbreakable Hyperbond® junction that binds them permanently together, removing the issues of the past of low DKs, fragile lenses.
Why choose a hybrid over a scleral to vault?
- UltraHealth "lands" more easily with conjunctival irregularities such as pingueculae
- Settling back – conjunctival compression - is lower with UltraHealth, typically 40-60μ vs 150μ
- Fits with much lower clearance, typically only 50μ putting optics closer to the pupil
- Allows tear flow as it doesn't seal off, reducing post-lens tear layer fogging.
- Normalisation – never underestimate a patient's worries about wearing something "odd" when compared to their peers/family. Ultrahealth handles similarly to a soft lens and uses standard soft lens solution systems
